What is Qigong?
Qigong is an ancient Chinese healing practice that brings the mind, body,
spirit, and heart energy into alignment through simple body movements, breathing, and
meditation. When energy (qi) flows smoothly in the body a person is physically and mentally
healthy. When the flow of qi is interrupted, energy blockages form and can lead to health
issues.
The qigong
movements can be done standing, sitting, or lying down. Even those with limited range of motion can benefit from doing a simplified
movement.
Studies have shown
that doing qigong can complement other medical practices to heal the body more quickly, with
less pain and reduced medication.

|
Qigong can also
benefit those that are currently healthy. A regular
qigong practice can improve the immune system, provide more oxygen to the body, and increase
the level of vital energy. This improves one’s health
on a daily basis in addition to preventing disease.
Many people find
that, over time, their outlook on life improves and becomes more positive and joyful as
blockages are removed from the body.
Qigong is both a
healing art and a personal practice. Exercises,
meditations, and sessions with an experienced practitioner can all be used to help you
maintain your own health.

Qigong techniques can benefit people as well as
animals. By teaching the owners
to work with the animals in their lives they increase their personal connection as well as
assist their animal in healing.

Assisting Mental Health
Comprehensive
studies have been done that show qigong to be effective in treating depression and enhancing
self esteem.
By treating the
entire body as an energy system a person can affect blockages in any level of their being,
including mental, emotional, and spiritual.
There is no need to
discontinue any current medical practice when doing qigong. The
exercises and meditations can be done in conjunction with other modalities and without any
negative effects.
Incorporating
Qigong into a daily routine can improve one’s quality of life.
